The church is celebrating Doors Open weekend, 2-3rd September with displays and activities to reflect the theme of Living Heritage. Visitors will be able to take a self-guided tour of the 150 year old church, marvel at its stained glass windows and view baptism, marriage and burial records; view the war graves and those of the Earls of Galloway.
A textile panel, created by church members takes pride of place in the church and there will be demonstrations of an apple press and wool spinning and weaving by members of Wigtownshire Guild of Spinners and weavers.
Displays of the church’s built, plant and spiritual heritage will be on show and families will be able to take part in nature activities in the church grounds. A plant stall and refreshment tent with an opportunity to have ‘tea with the vicar’ will be on site too. Books about the history of the church and its stained glass windows will be available.
