The event has passed.

Dumfries born, Steven Shand has been building bicycle frames and fabricating bicycles since 2002. He has built bicycle frames for multiple Olympic gold medalists and World Record holders. In this talk, he’ll walk you through the whole process.

Steven started Shand Cycles in 2004 and built that business to be at the forefront of the ‘Adventure Bicycle’ scene. He sold Shand Cycles in 2017 and since then has been in various roles in the outdoor and bicycle industry, working in product design, marketing and brand management.

Now, six years after leaving Shand Cycles, he has started building bicycles commercially again, under the brand name Willow. willowbike.com

Each frame is hand built in steel or titanium and use various construction methods; tig welding, fillet brazing and lugged.

He builds one frame at a time and in this talk you’ll get insights into his techniques and find out why he’s unlikely to take orders from outside the UK.
Whether you’re constantly tweaking your bike or have ever wondered how bikes are made, come and grab a coffee at the Frothy Bike and bring your questions as there will be plenty of time for Q&A.
