The considerable positive feedback we have received from our first run of ‘1724’ has encouraged us to schedule ‘Encore’ performances.
A new play by Allan and Janet Scott
1724 is the story of the small tenant farmers and cottars of South West Scotland evicted in the name of agricultural improvement. Many of them rose in open revolt.
They were ‘The Galloway Levellers’.
Although based on real events, this is a story ‘around the events’, a story about ordinary people and those evicted from home and livelihood by landowners to make way for cattle and profit.
It is not intended to be an ‘accurate in every detail’ historical account.
An amateur production by The Fullarton Theatre Company.
