Dumfries & Galloway Fine Arts Society Centenary Exhibition

Exhibition Dates: 12th Nov 2022 – 19th Feb 2023
One hundred years after its creation, Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society, still going strong, is back in Kirkcudbright with a show of members’ art and craft.
Prominent members of the Kirkcudbright artists colony helped inspire the foundation of the society in 1922 and took part in its first show, at Dumfries Academy in the summer of that year.
Since then the society has held a major exhibition virtually every year, except for the war years, and has helped promote creativity in the region with an annual programme of lectures and workshops on many aspects of the arts and crafts. Membership includes both professional and amateur artists and notable members in recent years have included the late Melville Brotherston, Alexander Robb, Hazel Campbell, Davy Brown and Patti Lean (current President).
