Our weekly Afterschool Art Club with Mr P has been designed for children aged 5 – 12 years who enjoy expressing themselves in Art and/or problem solving in Design. With direct links to the Curriculum for Excellence we will explore a broad range of skills and themes that build-on and reinforce experiences hopefully introduced at school.
During each workshop we will start with the Experiences and Outcomes as laid out in the Scottish school Curriculum. The processes we use will produce evidence that can then be shared and taken home to treasure. Just as importantly, we will ensure that our time together, exploring Art, is quite simply fun as well as inspiring. During After school Art Club we will discover new ways of looking at the world, create our own artwork, learn new skills and reflect on what we have done!
All materials are included in this class, so no need to bring anything (unless children would like to!)
Classes are small, maximum class number is 10 children, to ensure they get the personal tuition and encouragement they the need to help with creating each project. There is a minimum number of participants required for the course to go ahead.
Mr P. is currently a primary school teacher and Art specialist who has been involved in education for nearly 30 years. He has taught in over 40 of the schools within Dumfries & Galloway. During his teaching career he has taught Art & Design to a very diverse range of learners: From pre-school toddlers to post-work retirees. Mr P even has his very own YouTube Channel with lessons on various aspects of Art & Design in the Scottish ‘primary school’ curriculum. From Nursery pupils to Design Undergraduate students Mr P has taught them all, at some point!
