A documentary film made by Elly M Taylor in 1996. This film follows the African American poet and writer, Maya Angelou, on a visit to Scotland to mark the 200th anniversary of Burns’ death.
Angelou first discovered the work of Burns when she was still a young girl. His words spoke to her in a way that changed her life. You will find this moving tribute has not aged at all and if you ever doubted the international respect and love for Scotland’s bard, this short film will bring it home to you.
This event is taking place as part of a weekend of partnered activities to remember Robert Burns and his time in Dumfries.
