The Museum of Model Art was converted from the former abattoir in St Mary’s St in Sanquhar. The Museum opened for the first Sanquhar Arts Festival in May 2019.
The Art Particles exhibition runs from 11:00am-4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th May as part of the Sanquhar Arts Festival.
The 1/24th scale models depict artist’s rooms and studios with the art-work missing or incomplete. A large model features a major Conceptual art exhibition in Pripyat, Ukraine that closed abruptly on the day of the Chernobyl fire. This model is explored by torchlight and CCTV. A recent model features the museum itself, made when the museum was closed to visitors due to Covid and used as a studio.
