Join us to celebrate oor Burns in style with a cabaret night in the heart of Dumfries High Street.
Creative Spaces presents Big Burns Behavin’ – a perty like no other with live music, open mic and the chance to elect our new toon bard! Join us for an evening in the Stove Cafe this winter where we’ll be boogying oan doon like oor Rab in 1791.
Behavin’ is a cabaret night celebrating the talent of Doonhamers and beyond. Kicking off with an open mic, join us as we address the haggis, raise a dram to the big bad bard himself, elect Dumfries’ 21st Century toon poet and enjoy a smashing set from our headliner – Heen.
Slainté mhath!
Open Mic
“Oh the gift that God could give us, to see ourselves as others see us.”
Whether your words are spoken or sung, grab a dram and get ready to perform for oor audience. Entries may be taken on the night subject to timings so you’d better get your name down to guarantee your spot.
Scran
“Some hae meat and canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat and we can eat, And sae the Lord be thankit.”

Citizen Hame – Elect the Toon Bard
“Now’s the day and now’s the hour.”
Although we Doonhamers will always raise a glass to Rabbie, we are on the hunt for the new Toon Bard. Hear from our electees as they share their rhythmic policies and take a vote on who’s taking hame the croon.
Headliner: HEEN
“Until I am complete master of a tune, in my own singing.”
Where traditional music meets contemporary production, Heen is a musical project paying homage to the lowland Scottish region of Dumfries & Galloway. Taking a collection of original tune compositions inspired by the people and places of D&G, Heen merges these melodies with granular textures and shuddering bass to produce a sound that interrogates the essence of traditional music.
