With the French Revolutionary Wars underway, Robert Burns joined the local militia in 1795 and wrote the patriotic song ‘Dumfries Volunteers’. In a special living history presentation in the Bard’s own backyard, you can discover the kind of equipment Burns used, his experiences as a volunteer soldier, and how the folk of Dumfries prepared for the conflict.

Living history presented by John Sadler’s Time Bandits. Image shows a Royal Dumfries Volunteers military jacket in the collections of Dumfries Museum.

This is a free event, no need to book, just turn up between 1.30-4.30pm.
