Curator Tour of ‘Fighting for Justice’ exhibition

An opportunity to explore the latest exhibition in Dumfries Museum with its curator, Judith Hewitt.
‘Fighting for Justice: Strikes and Protests in Dumfries 1770-1920’ shares objects, photos and historical accounts connected with the history of working lives of the past.
This includes:
-strikes organised by glovemakers, bakers and stonemasons.
-the campaign for suffrage – Chartists who protested in Dock Park and Queensberry Square.
-the role of printmakers and the Typographical Union.
-the struggle to obtain a secure food supply and the public disorders connected with that from 1770-1842.
Judith will share her highlights of the exhibition as well as the research, partnerships and other factors that contributed its development.
Free to attend, no need to book.
NB the exhibition is accessed by a small flight of stairs.
Organised as part of the latest exhibition in Dumfries Museum ‘Fighting for Justice: Strikes and Protests in Dumfries 1770-1920’.
