Dance for Fun, Dance for Health, Dance for Creativity! Modern Dance technique (Margaret Morris Movement) with creative movement and improvisation opportunities. Margaret Morris Movement Children’s Grades is a syllabus of dance exercises which primarily concentrate on developing a sound movement technique alongside encouraging the primary age child to explore their artistic and creative side. These dance exercises are designed to improve

posture, breathing, flexibility, agility, balance, co-ordination, strength and concentration. The Children’s Grades combined with free expression and composition help the individual to develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. These classes encourage a creative mind combined with a broad movement vocabulary. As well as developing dance skills and a strong movement vocabulary, each session of includes opportunities to explore creative dance and improvisational skills. Working either alone, in pairs or in small groups, the dancers learn to create dance sequences, patterns and ultimately their own short choreographies. This is either through a theme, through structured improvisation or indeed free movement expression. Art and design is a key feature of Margaret Morris Movement and there are many chances to create simple costumes, props and accessories as part of the creative process which add another dimension to the movement element.
