A circus extravaganza is coming to Lochside Park, Castle Douglas on Saturday 25th May. Be astonished by the show Cirqulation, a spectacular display of fire, jaw-dropping aerial acts, acrobats, and jugglers, performed by the amazing Delighters as part of the Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival 2024, in partnership with the Castle Douglas Development Forum.

The free outdoor show will entertain audiences of all ages with a selection of acts from Cirqulation’s performances across the UK, and incredible local performers – Cate Ross, David Steedman and Kiera Manson.

Audiences will also have the opportunity to try their hand at circus skills including juggling, poi spinning, balancing, hula hoops, flower sticks, and plate spinning between the two 45-minute performances at 13:30 and 4.00pm.

There will be children’s play and craft corners and a pop-up café in the Crannog building, as well as face-decorating, food stalls, outdoor games area, and much, much more. The public will have access to the Crannog building toilets, including an accessible facility.

Claudia Wood, Chair of the Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival states: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Castle Douglas Development Forum to bring an incredible day of Circus activities to Castle Douglas. The programme of events will have something for all the family to enjoy and we are really excited to be able to bring free outdoor events for communities to enjoy to our region.”

About Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival

Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival supports people in some of the region’s most rural areas to experience world class performing arts. We bring the best local and national artists to our communities; we invest in our performing artists; introduce our young people to live performance and engage people of all ages, from all walks of life, with our imaginative programme.

Castle Douglas Development Forum

Castle Douglas Development Forum is a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Trust and the Castle Douglas Anchor and Resilience Organisation. We believe in improving the sustainability of the town and surrounds health, wealth and wellbeing so that everyone can thrive, grow, and innovate. We support community events and other voluntary groups and charities in our town.

Our volunteers help to run the community-owned Heart of Galloway Visitor Centre, the Castle Douglas Town Charity Shop, and the Stepping Stones Community Larder and food bank.

Our projects provide citizens with opportunities to enhance the environment, cultivate self-confidence, develop skills, and connect with others.

We raised funds to build a Playpark for All and a Changing Places toilet in Lochside park.

We are now raising funds for our latest project: a community asset transfer to convert a ‘surplus to requirement’ outdoor activity centre in Lochside park into a sustainable place for everyone to gather.
