To celebrate the UCI World Paracycling Championships, two evenings of must see, inspiring entertainment are taking place at the beautiful venue of the Usual Place in Dumfries town centre.
Both evenings are intended to create a warm welcome to the town for any paracyclist, coach, visitor or local residents who want to come along. A bar will be open on both evening, though no food will be served.
Wednesday 9th August
6pm – The Act of Endurance £6 (£4 concessions) – A full evening ticket that covers both events costs £9 (£6 concessions)
World record holding endurance cyclist Josh Quigley will be talking about what it takes to cycle 2,179 miles in a week.
Although Josh hadn’t been on a bike since he was a kid, he managed to cycle more than 26,000 miles around the world and overcame many obstacles along the way, including a near death crash in Texas which put him in hospital for five weeks.
Josh will be joined on stage Dr Kate Rawles. In 2017 Kate started off on a 8288 mile cycle from Colombia to Cape Horn, a ride that inspired her latest book ‘The Life Cycle’. Kate is a thought-provoking speaker, an innovator and a passionate environmentalist.
Both sessions will be hosted by Warren Sanders, who himself spent four years cycling around the world and now runs the highly successful Galloway Cycling Holidays with his partner Esther Tacke.
