After the success of his first solo exhibition at Kirkcudbright Galleries in 2020, we are delighted to welcome Ewan back with an exhibition showcasing his latest works.
Ewan McClure: Painter
Dates: 13th May – 13th August
Mitchell Gallery, Top Floor of Kirkcudbright Galleries
The Mitchell Gallery is open Monday – Saturday: 10am – 4:30pm, and Sundays: 11:30-4:30pm.
This solo exhibition combines flowing, gestural townscapes; honest, life-like portraits, and still-life paintings that are carefully staged and timeless. McClure’s love of paint and his astute observation provides a common thread to this diverse new crop.
Artworks are for sale in this exhibition, and you can find the digital catalogue on the Kirkcudbright Galleries website: www.kirkcudbrightgalleries.org.uk
A bit about the artist:
Ewan McClure is the long-standing Artist-in-Residence at Broughton House, Kirkcudbright. His work hangs in private and public collections including the Robert Fleming collection, Princeton Theological Seminary and the Royal Scottish Academy.
Following his appearances as a finalist on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, 2013, where he painted Michael Kerr, Sophie Dahl and AP McCoy, his rapidly executed, realist portraiture has been in steady demand both in the UK and abroad. In 2015 Ewan was shortlisted for the prestigious Conversations Prize for a multi-figure painting at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
