Felting The Glenkens Landscape Introduction Session

Ginny Shipway, an experienced Felter, who became interested in felting eight years ago.

Her first love is wet felting but also uses needle felting to embellish her work.

She is experienced in both techniques to make and decorate bags, pictures, vessels, and Jewellery.

Using various types of wool, using British fleece wherever possible.

Ginny also makes felted, whole fleece, “no kill” rugs and particularly likes using Shetland, Gotland and Mule fleeces.

After training in Felting and Textiles Ginny formed the Devon Feltmakers, exhibiting at the major craft shows in South West England, running workshops and taster sessions.

Our high point was winning the Craft Stand Gold Medal at Devon County Show.

Ginny moved to The Glenkens at the beginning of 2025 and is looking forward to running the workshops for Cultural Glenkens.

Ginny’s workshops will be offering the opportunity to experience a variety of felting techniques suitable for beginners but also for those with more felting Knowledge.

This introductory workshop will teach basic wet felting skills and the chance to design, make and keep a felt bowl inspired by the colours and landscape of the Glenkens.
