Ceramic artist Kristin Powers arrived from Boston a few weeks ago to explore the consistency of the local clay, once used for brick making. Kristin has been making slab, coil and thrown pots with various clay mixes. These ‘pots’ now form part of the exhibition at MERZ, ‘Impressions of Sanquhar’, together with Kristin’s innovative sculptural forms. Local artists and members of ARC in Kirkconnel have contributed their ‘impressions’. Come along and have your say on developing a distinctive Sanquhar ceramics studio.
