Tablet weaving is a method of weaving strong, narrow, decorative bands. The equipment required is very cheap and simple, yet the range of possible patterns is immense.
Join Kirsten at Creation Mill for a day of historical crafting. Kirsten is a Textile artist and historical storyteller and she will expertly guide you through this beginner friendly introduction to tablet weaving.
You will learn about the history and uses of tablet weaving, how to read patterns, warp-up the cards and weave using the backstrap method.
At the end of the sessions you will have created a small tablet woven sample large enough for a bookmark and will have the confidence to make larger pieces at home for use as trim, straps and belts.
Materials and refreshments are included but please bring your own lunch.
Creation Mill is a fully accessible venue and parking is available on site.
