Joseph Thomson Maasai Trust Auction and Talk

The Joseph Thomson Maasai Trust is an organisation led by descendants of Joseph Thomson, Victorian African Explorer who was born in Penpont, Thornhill. The Trust aims to promote awareness of his life, legacy and inspiration. The main purpose of the Trust is to develop links with Ezekiel Katato’s organisation, Across Maasai Land, through whose village, Joseph Thomson walked during his expedition through Maasailand in the 1870s. The Trust have decided to concentrate on raising funds to help educate girls from Ezekiel’s area.

The Joseph Thomson Maasai Trust is holding an auction and talk to raise funds for girls education in Maasailand, Kenya on Saturday, 19th March at 2.00pm in the Gladstone Hall, Penpont. The talk is by Peter Wright, great grand nephew of Joseph Thomson and is entitled “In the Spirit of Joseph Thomson –
Bike camping the entire Scottish Watershed”
Entry free, donations accepted. Tea and scones, raffle.
