Launch Event:Our Place in Nature – The Reimagining Of The Main Hall at Dumfries Museum
June 30 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
We are looking for young people aged 12-25 to assist us with the reimagining and redisplay of the Main Hall at Dumfries Museum.
If you would like to learn more about the objects on display and the history of the local area then this might be for you.
As part of this project, you will have a say in how the museum is displayed – that means which objects are on display (geology, archaeology, taxidermy and more) and what information goes with them.
You will also have the chance to get out and explore the local area – a great opportunity to visit important sites and learn more about them.
Filming, photography and making use of digital technology will also be a big part of this project.
We’re looking for ideas and inspiration to make the museum as interesting as possible to people of all ages so anyone is welcome to get involved and have their say.
If you’re interested in history, the environment, geology, digital technology, filming, photography, working in museums this might be for you.
Or if you want to try something different, get creative, build new skills, develop your confidence, help you get into university or progress with your career – then this would be a great opportunity for you.
You can have a conversation about your involvement without making any commitment. Please email email@example.com to express your interest. If you’d prefer to speak on the phone, call 01387 253374 and ask for Judith.
A launch event where you can hear more about the project and see the space that we will be transforming will be held on Thursday 30th June from 4pm in Dumfries Museum. Please email or phone ahead of this event so we know who is coming along. Parents, guardians and teachers are welcome to attend too.
We hope to hear from you soon!
