A return of this popular event from last year with added features. The shops of Annan High Street have been researched and their occupants listed going back to the year 1900. This exhibition charts the changes in shop type and reflects shopping trends throughout the years.
There will be old photos and old adverts from newspapers and local booklets.
The Mysteries come from some records which don’t indicate what the owner was selling and we would love to hear stories and memories about the town.
A handful of shopkeeping families are still on the High Street and this year we are aiming to highlight some of those family histories in the displays.
More recently we have had enquiries about specific houses around the town and a small section will showcase old buildings and how to research the history of a house through time.
We hope to have representatives of our local museum, council heritage department and family history groups who will give advice about how to start your research.
We are in St Andrews Church Hall, Downies Wynd, Annan Fri 1-4pm, Sat 11am-4pm and Sun 1-4pm
