Why?
Hi! My name is Poppy, I’m 24 and mum to two boys aged 3 and 6 months.
I am originally from Kirkcudbright but moved away shortly after having my first son and really struggled (especially during Covid) to make friends or even get out and meet people. I did go to a few groups but found that most of the other mums were at a completely different life stage to me. I felt I didn’t fit in anywhere, so stopped attending groups altogether which made me feel incredibly isolated. My anxiety about going out increased and I found the first year extremely hard.
I’m now back in Dumfries and suspect that there are plenty of other younger mums out there in similar circumstances and with similar feelings. I know just how difficult it can be to bring yourself (and baby) along to a group, not knowing what the others there will be like and feeling anxious about being judged.

I would love to create a safe, friendly space for younger mums to come along and just meet up. Hopefully, this shared experience can lead to some new friendships as we know just how important that is when you become a mum!
I’d like to invite all mums and mums2be under the age of 26, whatever your background or current circumstances, to come and join me on Tuesday afternoon for a cuppa. Be brave… get yourself along, and we will look after you. This is a free session.

Jill Asher will be coming along to help me facilitate. She is experienced in supporting parents so between us you’re in good hands.
