Nature & Landscape Film making

November 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Learn how to create fantastic films in the natural landscape with Filmmaker and Environmental Video Installation Artist, John Wallace.

A day-long workshop for up to ten participants interested in filmmaking (or artist’s moving image) in natural environments aimed at single screen output or multi-screen installations.

John will share insights into how to get the most from time spent in the field, from planning, framing, shooting formats, lens, camera, and audio choices, to how to ensure useable results in unpredictable natural situations. Includes practical exercises set in the landscape of NTS Threave Nature Reserve where John has conducted two artist’s residencies spanning 2020-2022.

Participants must bring their own video and audio recording equipment (at minimum, a high-quality, video-capable smartphone), tripods etc. for use on the day and be prepared to work outside in inclement weather.

Suitable for those with experience of outdoor filmmaking, artist’s moving image, or stills photography, as well as beginners with a basic understanding of digital imaging. All participants must be familiar with their own equipment, including how to view and transfer clips on external devices.
