Discover events in Dumfries & Galloway – South West Scotland
In light of the 2024 Olympics beginning in summer, we are hosting an open day down on the river at Nithsdale Amateur Rowing Club on the Greensands. This is aimed at adults who would like to learn to row, or to just give it a try and see what it’s like to be in a rowing boat on the beautiful river. By coming along you will be helping the club to reach it’s target of virtually rowing to Paris for the Olympics.
On and Off the water sessions will run every half an hour between 9.30am and 12pm on Saturday 4th May 2024. This event is free to try so come along and give it a go.
We offer on the water rowing for those wishing to give rowing a go and off the water training for anyone not wishing to be on the river.
All abilities are welcome, whether you have rowed before or not. Participants must be able to swim if they wish to go in a boat on the river.
Please wear warm comfortable clothing. No hoodies or jeans (they are too heavy to row in)
Following on from the open day, we are hosting a Learn to Row programme for 6 weeks. This is a training programme for any adults wishing to learn to row and will be held on Wednesday’s from 6.30/6.45pm until 8/8.30pm, starting on Wednesday 6th May. The cost is £50 for 6 coached training sessions. If you would like to sign up for this or would like anymore information, please email us or message our Facebook page.
