Join the Head Ranger for an Autumn Amble at NTS Threave, together with friends from the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere.
This Autumnal walk will start from Threave Gardens, just outside Castle Douglas, and head out towards Barley Hill before reaching Threave Nature Reserve. The route will head towards Lamb Island before rounding back to Threave Gardens.
Hear about the extensive landscape restoration work that has been conducted on site and how this world class, 100-year project is a leader in conservation and rewilding.
This walk will be guided by NTS Threave’s Head Ranger joined by the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere team.
Some stretches of this route are uneven underfoot. The route is approximately 8.5km in length, with time allocated to allow for the Head Ranger to share information about the site, and for brief stops to be made at some of the wildlife hides along the way. Please dress appropriately with solid and comfortable footwear.
There are toilets at Threave Gardens and Threave reserve. There is a cafe at Threave Gardens but no cafes or shops along the route.
In the event of severe weather this event will be cancelled.
