Orienteering in Barhill Wood by Kirkcudbright

Calling all adventurers! Join Solway Orienteers in Barhill Wood next to Kirkcudbright on Sat 30th Sept. when we will have three exciting courses on offer. The short option (1.5km) is suitable for families / beginners and juniors. The Medium course is ideal for those with a wee bit more experience at map reading and is 2.4km. The Long course is 3km and for experienced navigators. Expect to be running cross country and off path on this option. (Courses are measured direct from check point to check point so expect to cover more ground than the stated lengths). Orienteering is an exciting outdoor sport with set points but no set route between them – you choose your route. The fastest round in the correct order wins!
To be sure of getting the map of your choice we recommend that you pre enter. Pre entries close at 11pm on Monday 25th Sept. There will be some entry on the day available. Entry fees for non-members are adults £6.00 & juniors £3.00(Adults accompanying a junior go free).
No previous experience needed. We will have experienced orienteers on hand to help anyone new to the sport get started. Start times will be 10:30 – 12:00. If you are new to the sport please turn up at 10.30 so we have time to show you what to do.
