Rich Hall

Rich Hall is the latest big name comedian coming to Dumfries for the Big Burns Supper.

‘Comedian’ doesn’t do Rich justice – he’s also a writer, documentary maker and musician.

But comedy is where the Montana native started out in the 1980s, writing for and performing in US TV shows including the legendary Saturday Night Live.

He’s best known here in the UK for his character Otis Lee Crenshaw, a stereotypical trailer thrash country musician from Tennessee, which won him a Perrier Comedy Award in 2000 and made him a familiar face on panel shows.

He is renowned for his expertly crafted tirades, quick-fire banter with audiences and delightful musical sequences.

Rich, who has also won a Barry Award (Melbourne International Comedy Festival), has been described as a transatlantic messenger, lampooning each country he visits with his laser-guided observations.

He has fronted the hugely successful BBC Four documentaries Rich Hall’s Red Menace, Rich Hall’s Working For The American Dream, Rich Hall’s Countrier Than You, Rich Hall’s Presidential Grudge Match, Rich Hall’s California Stars, Rich Hall’s You Can Go To Hell, I’m Going To Texas, and Rich Hall’s Inventing the Indian.

See him at Loreburn Hall on Thursday, June 23. Tickets are £19.50 from bigburnssupper.com. All previously booked tickets remain valid.

Doors open at 6pm, it is unreserved seating and the show is for over-14s only; under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
