Surrounded by the stunning countryside of South West Scotland, A’ the Airts Community Art Centre warmly welcome you to the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar, the home of the original Sanquhar patterns. Learn about the history and heritage of this traditional way of knitting, still practiced today.
A community project known as Sanquhar Pattern Designs will share with you captivating presentations and hands-on demonstrations.

This visitor experience includes;
On arrival, a light lunch of sandwiches and a home-baked treat with tea or coffee from A’ the Airts Café.
A presentation on the history and heritage of the Sanquhar Knitting.
A demonstration of the hand-knitting of Sanquhar Gloves.
Overview of how the tradition of the patterns is being kept alive by the Sanquhar Pattern Designs team.
A chance to speak to the Sanquhar Pattern Designs team and view the range of products they produce.
Shopping for Sanquhar knitwear and giftware, Sanquhar knitting pattern books and other locally made crafts in our shop.
