Join us for a delightful musical experience as our series of free Afternoon Recitals continues with a special Saturday performance by the Sempre Amabile women’s choir. We warmly invite you to be part of this cultural celebration, where you can enjoy the beautiful voices of the choir in the inspiring atmosphere of the Fratry Hall. While entry to our concerts is complimentary, we encourage contributions during the collection at the end of each performance to support both the talented artists and the Cathedral. Your generosity will help us continue to bring such enriching events to the community. We look forward to seeing you there!
About the choir;
Sempre Amabile is a women’s choir based in Kendal. Formed in December 2018, by predominantly alumni of the Amabile family of choirs (amabile.co.uk) we enjoy giving concerts and competing in competitions.
Most recently we enjoyed success at the North Wales Choral competition 2023 and were delighted to have been awarded the prize for the ‘Most Inspiring Choral Performance’ at the Carlisle Music and Drama Festival 2024. We enjoy collaborations, and are currently looking forward to performing with the Solway Singers in a seasonally inspired programme next February.
Sempre’s weekly Zoom singing sessions at the beginning of the pandemic were a valuable source of friendship and togetherness for our members. We made and edited a number of remote recordings which can be found on YouTube (O Love – Sempre Amabile – Virtual Choir).
Sempre loves to sing music from a variety of genres, from madrigals to musicals, relishing the marriage of words and music and communicating the meaning to our audience. We particularly enjoy the challenge of playing with our rich sound to suit the repertoire.
The choir with its musical director, Charlotte Jackson, is very much looking forward to performing to lunchtime concert goers in the beautiful surroundings of The Fratry of Carlisle Cathedral.
