Second Generation Holocaust Survivor Event

In collaboration with Vision Schools Scotland (UWS) in recognition of Dumfries High School working towards the ‘Excellence in Holocaust Education’ award, this event is the first of its kind in Dumfries and Galloway. Dumfries High School would like to share the incredible stories from Hilary and Gillian with you, our parents/carers and local community.

Our guest speakers Hilary Hodsman and Gillian Field are daughters of Holocaust survivors Henry and Ingrid Wuga. Our event at Dumfries High School will provide an insight into the experiences of Henry and his late wife Ingrid, who came to Scotland on the Kindertransports in 1939.

Hilary and Gillian grew up in Glasgow. At the centre of their happy family home was their parent’s Jewish kosher catering company. They grew up always aware of their German heritage. Henry Wuga, (their father) is now the grand age 99 and is now unable to travel to schools to tell their story, therefore his two daughters are now bringing it to the next generation.

Hilary and Gillian will conduct their talk to the audience and afterwards the floor will be open for questions from the audience.

Seats are limited therefore spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
