Join Sybil of Solway Silver to make yourself a set of silver charms to add to a personalised and unique scarf /lapel pin or brooch.
You will use moulding, shaping and texturing techniques to form your pieces taking inspiration from Shambellie House Grounds to create your charms. The process is amazingly simple and effective. Starting with Silver clay made from very tiny particles of silver suspended in an organic binder, you form your pieces in clay then fire them in a kiln while you have some refreshments and a break to enjoy the grounds and some relaxation time. During the firing process the binder burns off and the particles of silver sinter into a solid piece. This piece is 99.9% pure silver and it could be hallmarked at an assay office as fine silver, 999.
Your set of charms will then be arranged on a pin and interspersed with beads or other decoration to create a unique scarf/lapel pin or brooch to take away on the day. Your charms could be also used chain which can be purchased from Sybil on the day if you prefer.
If you would like to continue with your design theme you may wish to book in to Morag Macphersons workshop on the 28th April where your creation can be used as inspiration to design a pattern to print onto silk and make your own scarf.
