Soup and Stitch – Beginners Sewing Classes

Always wanted to learn to sew? Come along to Shambellie House and learn the basics in this lovely setting with beautiful surroundings, good company and refreshments onsite. Our tutors will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing and help you build your confidence using a domestic sewing machine before moving on to a simple sewing project if you choose to come for a number of weeks. Do you have projects you have started but are having difficulty finishing? Why not come along and get the expert help you need to get the job done.

During the course you will:

Learn about threading the sewing machine, winding and inserting bobbin.
Build confident sewing skills.
Learn about fabric qualities and various machine stitches.
Utilise the skills learned for a small project – envelope cushion or tote bag.
Get help and advice on projects you are having difficulty finishing.
Go home with several finished projects.
