The Big Oyster Bash
Now taking place two weeks ahead of the main festival on Saturday 2nd September, The Big Oyster Bash marks the official start of the native oyster season.

This party on the ice rink at North West Castle includes live music by blues band Big Vern ‘n’ the Shootas, a fabulous auction, tasty buffet, oyster bar and surprise guests and special performances.

Celebrity Chefs
TV favourite Michael Caines heads up the celebrity chef programme at the Oyster Festival. His regular appearances on MasterChef, Saturday Kitchen and The Great British Menu have made him one of the UK’s most celebrated chefs.

Tony Singh, Scotland’s spice king, is Chef Ambassador of Stranraer Oyster Festival and he returns to the festival for a third time to share his passion for Scotland’s delicious natural larder.

MasterChef runner-up Julie Linn will be sharing her Malaysian and Scottish cooking style, award winning author and Guardian journalist Felicity Cloake will be speaking about her new book, and there’s much, much more!

The ShuckOff!
The Scottish Oyster Shucking Championships return to Stranraer Oyster Festival, pitting chefs, oyster growers, producers, fishermen and industry professionals against each other in a bid to claim the title of Scottish Oyster Shucking Champion! The winner will go on to represent Scotland at the World Oyster Opening Championships in Galway, Ireland.

Artisan Market
If you’ve been to Stranraer Oyster Festival before, you’ll know the festival market is an amazing showcase of local food, drink and craft producers. There will be some familiar faces, some limited edition Oyster Festival products, and some exciting new stalls at the 2023 event.
