Greylag have been associated with us for millennia, wild and domesticated yet despite this importance little is known about their wild lives.
The native greylag goose is much misunderstood. Treated as a pest species by many, regarded as a dull by others, we actually know very little about the only native goose that lives and breeds on our islands. Galloway Glens has tagged a few of these birds to help us unlock a few of the secrets about their life. All the time with the haunting spectre of avian flu being carried around the world by their migrant brethren. Perhaps this is accelerated by human activity.
This hybrid event will discuss the new knowledge that we are getting from the recent tagging of Threave Greylags, where have they been, are they part of a larger population and how do the populations mix.
