The Scottish Commonty, the Midsteeple and the Queen of Sardinia: pondering the past and georeferencing old maps

Who?: Roland Spencer Jones (archaeologist from NOSAS) on commonties, Robert Athol (archivist for Jesus College Cambridge) on the Geography of the Midsteeple, and Nic Coomby on place name stories near Kirkcudbright. There will be others who will also be discussing our chosen maps from a variety of view points.

What?: This is the second magazine event and will be stuffed full of mini-talks and and old maps. It will be a planned ramble past various things that appear on maps. We shall be thinking about the how landscape is structured and how far people would go to get what they wanted …and of course why one should watch the tide while collecting muscles!

This event is online and in online in the Galloway Glens Zoom Room and at Balmaclellan Smiddy.
