The Wool Gathering is the social side of an initiative led by the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere that is exploring new uses for wool from Scottish Blackface sheep, an historic and iconic breed in our region where sheep farming is a key part of the rural economy. The Wool Gathering invites flock owners, creatives, business owners, and anyone who works with or is interested in wool to share their experiences and ideas.
Bleat n’ Blethers are our informal meet-ups aimed at generating connection and conversation – anyone is welcome to attend. We particularly encourage attendees to bring something woolly or sheepy to share – perhaps something you’ve made with wool, photos or farming stories you know, or an heirloom you’d like to show the group. Or, just relax and enjoy the chat! These autumn Bleats are particularly exciting as we’ll have with us the first garments created by the Blackface wool project; we’re looking forward to getting feedback on these as our social enterprise prepares to launch.
The venue for our Sanquhar Bleat n’ Blether is A’ the Airts, Upper Nithsdale’s arts and crafts community centre. Light refreshments will be provided. For accessibility information please visit the venue’s own website: https://atheairts.org.uk/
Any other queries about this event, please contact email@example.com.
If you have booked a ticket and can no longer attend please let us know, in order that we can open the space for someone else.
