National Park conversations are a ‘hot’ topic a present. We feel this brings an opportunity to explore what the future for south west Scotland might look like beyond a ‘yes’ or ‘no’, whether it includes a National Park in Galloway & Ayrshire or not. What are the key priorities and visions for our communities, for nature, and a positive future for all? And how can we work together to achieve these goals?
Anything goes, and there is no such thing as a bad idea. It’s about sharing thoughts, having fun, hearing each other and allowing collective imaginations to work together to generate new ideas and ways of thinking.
The aim of this “Walking Conversation” is to proactively gather visions for a positive future for south west Scotland that address known, existing and potential future issues, irrespective of whether a National Park goes ahead or not.
This project forms part of an independent creative consultation. It is separate from the ongoing formal consultation process and is not linked to any campaign group. The initiative is brought to you by Glenkens based artists Leeming + Paterson, supported through the “What We Do Now” Sparks Programme by The Stove Network, a community-based arts organisation in Dumfries.
Conversations will be summarised (anonymously) and presented to Nature Scot before the end of the formal consultation, and shared publicly, including on the What We Do Now website.
