The May lecture from TASDAG (The Arts Society of Dumfries and Galloway) is set to provide a fascinating glimpse into the world of Dutch artist, Johannes Vermeer. Born in the 1660’s in Delft, Vermeer was one of many artists working in the Netherlands at that time, but as we know, very little information about him survives. Fortunately his paintings can still be enjoyed, 350 years after his death. Including, perhaps the most famous ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, which has inspired many people to an interest in art.
The Vermeer Lecture will be delivered by Guest Lecturer Brian Healey, professional artist and interior designer. Brian will guide us through some of Vermeer’s fascinating works and shed light on the mysteries surrounding this wonderful artist and his enduing legacy.
