Description:
Join us for Watercolour Wednesdays – a welcoming, creative space to explore the magic and possibilities of watercolour painting one week at a time. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a casual dabbler, or someone returning to art after a long break, these stand-alone sessions are designed to give you confidence, inspiration, and practical skills in a supportive environment.
Each session is self-contained, so you can come along to just one or return weekly to deepen your knowledge. We’ll explore core watercolour techniques such as colour mixing, layering, brush control, and composition, as well as more playful, seasonal projects as we head toward winter.
What to expect each week:
29 October – Watercolour Foundations: An introduction to wet-on-wet techniques, brush control, and how watercolour behaves on paper.
5 November – Colour Mixing 101: Learn how to mix a full spectrum of colours from just three pigments.
12 November – Experimenting with Layers: Discover how to create soft edges, depth, and shadows through glazing techniques.
19 November – Negative Space Botanicals: Learn to paint by working around shapes rather than outlining them — a calming and surprisingly effective method.
26 November – Muted Palettes & Neutrals: Dive into desaturated tones and explore how to mix skin tones, greys, and earthy hues.
3 December – Winter Scenes: Capture the soft stillness of winter landscapes with limited palettes and gentle washes.
10 December – Line & Wash Festive Illustration: Use fine liners and watercolour to create festive-themed illustrations, perfect for cards or gift tags.
17 December – Sparkle & Snow: Experiment with salt, wax, and masking fluid to add wintery textures and magic to your artwork.
All materials are provided each week, including professional-quality paints and paper. You’ll leave each session with something beautiful — whether it’s a finished piece, a sketchbook of experiments, or a newfound love of watercolour.
Who is it for?
Adults of all levels — no experience necessary. Come as you are, with curiosity and a willingness to play!
