Compassion in Action
When love meets suffering, it manifests as compassion. This day workshop will explore the
value of cultivating compassion for the suffering and challenges the world around us and of
course, ourselves. Compassion is a heartfelt response to the suffering we experience both
within us and around us. It is one of the primary needs of our time. We will explore themes
such as authentic listening, deep welcoming, gratitude, generosity, releasing judgements,
healthy boundaries, and the willingness to be of service. Themes that can allow us to stand
up, meet the world as it is, and contribute something of value as a primary part of our
spiritual practice.
The day will include asana, meditation, yoga nidra and a space for questions and answers.
10 am – 4 pm Sunday 14th July 2024 , Lincluden Community Centre, top College Rd ,
Lincluden Dumfries.
Welcoming the Wild Dance of Emotions
In this day workshop, we will explore ways in which we can gain the confidence and capacity
to welcome all, or at least more, of our emotions into Awareness. Emotions such as anger,
grief, sadness, and shame. They all have their message and their gift, and it is only by
welcoming them, that their energy can be freed and released. In doing so, we step more fully
into our open-hearted humanity, and bring more of our story into the healing Light of
Awareness.
We are often conditioned to distrust, deny, or suppress certain emotions. Positive emotional
expressions such as joy and happiness, for example, are generally welcome. Yet we’re often
not so open to more challenging emotions which, as a result, stay primarily in the shadows
and thereby deplete our vitality and joy.
During the day we will work with various practices such as asana, pranayama, yoga nidra and
meditation to encourage an opening to those parts of ourselves that have been perhaps hidden
and explore some of the gifts these emotions can hold.
